Alcohol demand has been strong since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and prices have risen, although competition has kept a lid on sticker shock, industry experts say. While Americans used the alcohol-by-weight (ABW) technique, Canadians used the alcohol-by-volume (ABV) method. Because of differences in labelling, Canadian brews (measured in ABV) appeared to be more potent than American beers. Canadian Beer is still stronger. Today, most American beers also use the ABV method.
