Thus liberty entails the responsible use of freedom under the rule of law without depriving anyone else of their freedom. Freedom is broader in that it represents a total lack of restraint or the unrestrained ability to fulfill one's desires.
Liberty, in that context, meant a freedom from debts, mortgages, slavery, and the like. The Liberty that Jesus had in mind was neither political, nor financial, but rather spiritual. Man was in bondage to sin, and Jesus came to provide freedom from the constraints of sin.
