Radler is one of the most favorite summery low-alcohol beers available on the market. It is basically an effervescent and malty blend made of wheat or lager beer combined with grapefruit, limes, oranges juice, or classical lemonade. Such a refreshing beverage always has a lower ABV level than a standard beer.
A Shandy calls for its juice to be lemonade, and only lemonade, if we're being strict about the rules. A Radler, on the other hand, can be made with a mix of beer and any form of fruit juice.
The Radler is Germany's version of a shandy, a drink composed of half beer, half fruit soda or ginger ale. The Radler owes its creation to a 1920s German innkeeper named Franz Kugler.
