Does pouring soda on ice make it flat?

Does pouring soda on ice make it flat?

So, if you take two sodas at the same temperature and pour one into an empty glass and one over ice, the one you pour over ice will foam more. The second one will foam less because the first soda melted the surface of the ice cubes, leaving them smooth, with fewer microscopic crags in which bubbles can form.

Should you pour soda into a glass?

When pouring soda, or any beverage with dissolved gas, tilting the glass allows for less agitation. Less agitation means that less CO2 will come out of solution—the rate at which the CO2 is coming out of solution is lower when poured down the side of a tilted glass.
